With every passing day, it seems a new delivery/messenger service pops up to bring goods ordered by mobile phone apps to any address accessible by scooter. For those in the west that still don’t know what the acronym O2O stands for, try to remember “Online to Offline”. Car share services such as Uber can’t find enough drivers to keep up with demand, but McDonalds and KFC have no issues .
Will O2O spur a new round of farmers and low paid factory workers to move back into the large cities? While the sharing economy is theoretically using resources and hardware more efficiently, could congestion get worse because it is expanding the courier service market to never before seen growth?
